Angier Homes Description, Pictures, Map & Homes for Sale
Angier, the Town of Crepe Myrtles, is a lovely, quiet, little town located in Harnett County, about twenty miles south of Raleigh.
Like many little towns, Angier became a town because of a railroad station. The man who brought the railroad to Angier was Col. John Cicero Angier - thus the name Angier.
Angier, the man, by the way, married into the famous Duke family, of Duke Tobacco fame, via Washington Duke's niece, Lyla.
The slogan, "The Town of Crepe Myrtles," came about during the 1930's, when the Angier Woman's Club decided to have crepe myrtles planted on all the roadsides leading into Angier from all directions.
The trees, now all grown up, are absolutely spectacular in June, July and August. The Crepe Myrtle Festival is held in September and draws over 20,000 people.
Today Angier is one of the fastest growing areas in Harnett County. Within an easy drive to Research Triangle Park, Angier is becoming a draw for families wanting the quiet life who work in Raleigh.
Homes in Angier mostly run in the $100,000 to $300,000 range. A home in Angier will often be on a half acre or more of land.
Angier is serviced by the following schools:
• McGee's Crossroads Elementary School
• Angier Elementary School
• North Harnett Primary School
• Harnett Central Middle School
• Harnett Central High School
Nearby communities include Holly Springs and Apex to the Northwest, and Raleigh to the North.
