Cameron Village Description, Pictures, Map & Homes for Sale
Cameron Village is a Raleigh subdivision Inside the Beltline that almost everyone knows and everyone loves. Cameron Village has a special mystique about it.
Cameron Village was North Carolina's first planned mixed-use development. It was started in the late 1940s and includes single-family homes, multi-family apartments, and businesses. When Cameron Village Shopping Center was completed in the early 1950s, this Raleigh subdivision became one of the most sought after places to live.
Homes in Cameron Village have a variety of architectural styles including traditional, casual country style, and up through more modern designs. However, the ambiance of Cameron Village is one of the 40's and 50's with wonderful and spacious ranch-style homes.
Cameron Village was also one of the first subdivisions in Raleigh with curvilinear streets. The streets flow with the topography rather in a strict grid fashion resulting in streets that wind rather than zip through a neighborhood. A home in Cameron Village is usually set back from the street with a deep front lawn.
Besides its great character, another reason Cameron Village is so popular is its ideal location. You can walk to a shopping center and it's just a few minutes to North Carolina State University, Glenwood South, and downtown Raleigh.
Other Inside the Beltline subdivisions include Boylan Heights to the southeast, Cameron Park directly South, and Hayes Barton is just a little bit to the Northeast.
Driving Directions: From I-440 Take Take the Wade Ave. exit; Turn east on Wade Ave; turn south on to Woodburn Rd into Cameron Village.
