Romance and shopping don't always go together - but at the City Market they can. Raleigh's City Market was built in the early 1900s and has still has that "days gone by" ambience that's different from anything else you'll see in downtown.
City Market has house shops, art galleries, and restaurants, sitting along the original cobblestone streets. It's very quaint!
On the weekends there's usually live music being played in the street. It's a perfect date night for us all.
The selection of stores is pretty diverse. You can also stop in at Artspace to see artist studios and their work, or take a ride on a Segway.
It has a very relaxed atmosphere with bars and restaurants include Big Ed's, Vic's Italian Cafe, Woody's, and Rum Runners.
Other Raleigh Shopping Malls we like include Crabtree Valley Mall, North Hills Raleigh and Cameron Village .

Driving Directions: Take the Glenwood Ave. exit off the I-440 Beltline and head east towards downtown. Follow Glenwood Ave. to Hillsborough St. Take a left onto Hillsborough St. then a right onto Salisbury St. Follow Salisbury St. to Martin St. and take a left. Go a couple of blocks and City Market is at the intersection of Martin and Blount St.
