Raleigh Entertainment The Time Warner Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek - 919-831-6060
Description, Map, Review & Recommendations
The Time Warner Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek is a huge outdoor amphitheater in Raleigh, North Carolina. It has gone though several name changes - so you may know it also as: Alltel Pavilion, Hardees Walnut Creek, TWC Music Pavilion, Walnut Creek Amphitheater, or just Walnut Creek "Whatever the Name de jour is".
This Raleigh Amphitheatre is big - seats about 20,000 - around 6800 in seats, and another 13,500 or so on the lawn.
Most of the time we get lawn seats - I like being in the throngs and maneuvering my way to the restrooms. On the way back I feel like a mother penguin locating my nest.
If you go to an outdoor venue you have to know that at some time or another you will get rained on - when it happens - and it will - everyone around you is in the same boat so to speak. It's just fine and adds to the spice.
The lawn seating is pretty far back from the performers but the sound system is very good and there are screens so you can see pretty well.
You can bring chairs if they are short (no more than 9 inches off the ground). They have chairs that you can rent - it's a basic lawn chair so if you have your own - bring 'em.
There is a downside - this place is very expensive - so be prepared. A couple of ways around that are to tailgate beforehand. Have a ball in the parking lot so you are full when you go in - or just eat before you come. Sadly, as Raleigh concerts go, the food, drinks, and stuff here is way too highly priced.
Don't try to bring anything in - it's nothing short of a full body scan at the gate.
Kids under 2 get in free if they can sit on mom or dad's lap. There is a no-smoking, no-drinking family seating section also.
Walnut Creek Raleigh attract some good acts and some really technically impressive shows. We have really enjoyed it throughout the years. Yes, it is expensive but some groups are worth it. The Time Warner Music Pavilion is a fun place to catch concerts in Raleigh.
Other Raleigh Entertainment venues we like to recommend are Koka Booth Amphitheater , Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts , and Raleigh Convention Center.
