Ackland Art Museum is located in Chapel Hill and is part of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Museum has over 15,000 works of art.
The collections include Asian art, collections of European masterworks and contemporary art, African art, and North Carolina pottery.
Besides the exquisite permanent collections over half of the Ackland is for special and traveling exhibitions.
The Ackland, even has an audio tour you can download for free! These free tours can be downloaded at the Museum on your cell phone and you can keep them on your iPOD or Mp3 player. They also have an iTunes site on their website where you can download one.
Spending the day at the Ackland is a true treat for the Raleigh art lover. It's extremely well organized and presented - a true jewel that you should not miss!

Driving Directions: The Ackland Art Museum is located at 101 South Columbia Street in Chapel Hill. From Raleigh: On I-40 West, take the Chapel Hill 273A exit. Follow Raleigh Road/South Road up through campus. Turn right on Columbia Street (86 North). Nearing Franklin Street, the Ackland will be on the right.
