Sitti is a fun Lebanese restaurant in downtown Raleigh. Sitti means grandmother in Lebanese and the food is a great tribute to the grandmother cook in the Lebanese traditional family. She must have been a great cook because the food at Sitti is fabulous!
We have never had such great pita bread and hummus. The pita bread is piping hot and poofy. We Love, Love, Love the small plates - you can get two or three and share. The Lamb kabobs are also perfect with just the right amount of who - knows - what seasoning.
Sitti has great windows that look out on the street. The interior is well-lighted and hip. There is room to move around and you don't feel slammed up next to someone. Wonderful wait staff - they are very helpful if you are not real familiar with Lebanese food. They have great recommendations or will patiently explain tastes to an unfamiliar palette.
The bar is very cool and I read that it is a 30's era piece, purchased and reconditioned from a bar in Chicago. The base of the large center table is also interesting as it was once in the Library of Congress. I was too focused on my food and watching the world go by outside the windows to check it out but I will next time we go - which will be soon.
Oh - don't forget the desserts - oh my gosh - they just may be worth eating first. Go for the Chocolate Fondant- hands down great!
