Tir na nOg is a traditional Irish pub in downtown Raleigh. They specialize in "an Irish/European style fusion" taste - along with the great traditional Irish dishes.
The food is all good but being traditionalists we go with the Corned Beef & Cabbage or the Bangers & Mash.
Save room for dessert - you gotta love a place that has desserts like Guinness flavored cheesecake and fried Bailey's ice cream.
Tir Na Nog has a great beer selection - with Irish favorites, as well as several North Carolina and international breweries and micro-brews.
Tir Na Nog has a laid-back atmosphere that is comfortable and friendly. They have music every Friday night and Irish jam sessions every Sunday.
Every month they also showcase Irish dancing from local Irish dance schools. It's great for the dancers and the audience - win-win for all.
The Sunday brunch is awesome with a great array of regular brunch food but also some non-brunchy style food mixed in.
During the brunch they have a make-your-own Bloody Mary bar! It's perfect for people who have always wanted to add a little more of this or that (me has to be extra, extra spicy) to their Bloody Mary!
Tir Na Nog is open for lunch so it is a convenient spot to grab a quick meal and walk over to the Raleigh IMAX Theater.
Of course this is the place to be for St. Patty's Day!
P.S. Tir Na Nog means "Land of Eternal Youth."
